How do you manage your studies with your athletics?

I have found the balance between school and sport to be surprisingly manageable. I have had my fair share of all-nighters and worrying over exams, but I try to be a diligent student. Being an athlete forces you to manage your time efficiently. I chip away at my work throughout the day and the balance has worked for me.

How has Springfield helped you to grow as person?

I’ve always said that coming to Springfield College was the best decision I made. I came to an environment filled with people just like me: competitive, hard working, and studious. The competitive atmosphere both athletically and academically has pushed me to be my absolute best.

Is it hard working at Aramark when maintaining your weight in season?

Working at Aramark proves to be a challenge all its own in season. My teammates say that I’m a little “tapped” because I enjoy that test. I see working there as a test of my discipline.

Favorite food in the off-season/in season?

My favorite food in the off-season would be a big plate of chicken parm with a salad. My in-season meals are the exact same day in and day out, but after every competition I have a steak and a milkshake!

How many push ups can you do in a row?

I do push ups daily, but in sets. I try to get 500+ every day, but my record for push ups without stopping is just under 200.

In 25 words describe your self?

I am a hard-nosed, determined person who was born not too athletically gifted. I have achieved success through hours of working at my craft and non-stop perseverance.

Favorite quote?

“Physical dominance can make you great, but mental dominance is what will ultimately make you unstoppable.”

How do you apply the Humanics philosophy?

Humanics is the idea that a person’s emotional, intellectual, and physical lives are interconnected. It’s the reason why Springfield’s symbol is the triangle- the balance of spirit, mind, and body. I have adopted this idea into my own day-to-day life and it has therefore become the format of my success within my major. My well being and spirit starts with my positive attitude and general outlook on life. My mind expands from my willingness and desire to learn more about our bodies, the fitness industry, and all up-and-coming techniques within exercise science.

Why did you become a pre-camp leader?

Applying to be a leader was a no-brainer. All of my first best friends and current roommates are all connections I made at pre-camp within my first three days of school.

What’s your favorite exercise?

The exercise that I think is the best for strength would have to
be the deadlift. When I am feeling motivated, front squats are
my favorite. (When I am not feeling motivated, they are my least favorite.) When I feel like working the chest, bench press is
my favorite. When I am teaching a class, cycle and ab lab are my favorites. Next week I’ll learn something new and that will be
my new favorite.

In 25 words, describe your self?

I am positive, outgoing, fun loving, and hard working. I like to laugh and make other people laugh. I tend to find beauty in everything and everyone.
